MISSION & GOALS
The mission of The Aquarius Project is to provide effective violence & gang intervention and health promotion services, thus building youth capacity to protect their safety and establish them on a path toward independence and self-sufficiency while protecting community safety. In addition, The Aquarius Project advocates for the African American and other ethnic communities to ensure their needs are appropriately met and access to necessary resources are developed.
The absolute priority of The Aquarius Project is to provide an array of services that protects youth against negative choices (school failure, drugs, prison, crime and violence, out of home placement) while increasing their safety, health, socialization, leadership capacity and self-sufficiency in their primary life arenas (school, family, career and community). Through these individual accomplishments we also strengthen and build the safety of the whole community. Our priority goal areas include:
1. To keep vulnerable youth and young adults safe and out of trouble.
2. To develop self-sufficiency, independence and individual responsibility with youth and young adults.
3. To identify and implement appropriate business practices necessary for future growth and stability
4. To identify and build the key partnerships with community agencies and funders necessary to establish The Aquarius Project as a significant community resource
5. To balance the process of growth with the development of core competencies, quality and responsible management |
